From most recent . . . OCTOBER 2006 - This general membership meeting was called to order by president Norman Wehner. Here are some of the topics talked about:
|
| JAN 2005 - The general membership meeting of January 24th was attended by 31 people in spite of the snow and sleet, which shows what a tough crowd we landlords are! We had an interesting question/answer forum about landlord issues and procedures. It was a nice opportunity for landlords to find out how other landlords handle issues they come across on a regular basis. |
| APRIL 2004 - On April 26th, CCLA held a meeting that featured a speaker from the Maryland Department of Environment's lead paint division. This was a very productive seminar. It help participants with questions and issues regarding the lead paint regulations in our area. |
FEB. 2004 - CCLA also held a landlord tenant law class in mid February at the Holiday Inn Express in North East. This class featured instructor/attorney Alvin C. Monshower. Al has been at the center of real estate legal matters in Maryland for more than 20 years and his specialty is defending realtors and landlords. Al shared some of that knowledge and experience with all the attendees. This class was a huge success with over 50 people in attendance. |
OCT. 2003 - Cecil County Landlords' Association held its' first annual meeting on October 14th at Bentley's restaurant in Elkton. We were surprised to see how many people turned out for this meeting. We not only had an attendance of over 50 people, we also had new members register. This proves that landlords in Cecil county are looking for a place to share and gain knowledge and experience. Our speaker, Bob Enten, is an attorney/lobbyist for landlord affairs in Annapolis. Everyone felt Bob was very interesting speaker and made some extremely good points. One of those great points was in telling us to keep communications open with our local government representatives because we have more leverage in Annapolis than we might think. He also explained why our leverage in Annapolis is so important. Along with the past lead paint legislation being made stricter, we are looking at possible new legislation for everything from mold to new taxes. Ideas were kicked around for future educational meetings. We are considering having a meeting/class for credit reporting and background checks. We have already spoken to representatives of one of credit reporting company. The membership took care of some official business and voted to confirm the temporary directors for official terms. Norman P. Wehner is director for three years, Candy D'Azevedo, Vice-President, Lisa Quinn, secretary and Rodney Bunty, Treasurer. Since the meeting, the board has added Susan Montgomery and Dr. Robert Gell as acting directors. |
