Do I have to live in Cecil County to join CCLA?
No, you do not have to live in Cecil County to join CCLA. However, you must own and/or operate property in Cecil County

How will I know what events CCLA has scheduled?
One of the fastest ways and best ways to see what CCLA has scheduled is to keep an eye on this web site. This site is updated regularly with all of our upcoming events. CCLA also mails its members newsletters as well as notices of upcoming events.

How many members does CCLA currently have?
103 members and counting! We are very pleased with the interest people in the area have shown in this organization. We are growing and would like to have you as a member.

How much does it cost to become a member?
Annual dues vary from $25 to $100 depending on the amount of rental units you own. You can click here to download our membership form which has a detailed explanation of membership fees.

Does CCLA offer any type of residential lease forms?
Absolutely! Once you're a member, you can enter our members only area. There you'll find a sample lease and a sample security agreements that have been drawn up by attorney, Alvin C. Monshower. You can print the Adobe Acrobat version of these forms or you can download the Microsoft Word format and modify it to fit your needs.

What is a SECURITY DEPOSIT?
A security deposit is any money paid by a tenant to a landlord that protects the landlord against damage to the rented property, failure to pay rent, or expenses incurred due to a breach of the lease. For more details, visit the Maryland Attorney General website.

Renee applied for an apartment and paid a $25 application fee. The next day she found another apartment she liked better. She asked the first landlord if he would refund her application fee, but he said the fee was non refundable. Did the landlord have the right to keep the application fee?

Yes. A landlord may keep an application fee of $25 or less.

If a landlord rents more than four units on one piece of property, the lease application must explain what your obligations and rights are if an application is taken.
